The Joplin Humane Society is your best source when looking for a pet. Not only do we have a great selection of adult animals to adopt, but we also have puppies and kittens. Even purebred animals can be found.

Many of our animals are awaiting homes because they were obtained by someone with unrealistic expectations of the time, effort, and money required to have a lifelong relationship with a pet. Our animals are eager to find a new home and are just waiting for someone like you.

Don't be discouraged if, when you first visit the shelter, there are no animals of the breed or type you want. We receive new animals daily - please keep checking for the right pet for you.

Adoption Process:

1. Stop by and find your new best friend. If you already have a dog in your family and plan to add a buddy, we encourage you to bring your dog with you to help make the right selection. If you are looking for a cat, don't forget to bring a carrier to take it home.
2. Complete an Adoption Contract. Be sure to bring your drivers license for identification. You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt.
3. Make your pet a part of your family. The key to creating a true "family pet" is to treat the animal as a beloved family member and to provide the training and care it deserves.

Adoption Fees:

The regular fee for adopting a puppy or adult dog is $60.
The regular fee for adopting a kitten or adult cat is $60.

The Adoption Fee includes $35 deposit for spaying or neutering the animal, de-worming, and initial shots provided when the animal entered the shelter.
